Mission
To strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in New York City by bringing together a select group of graduate students (“InSITE Fellows”), highly promising New York area based start-ups, and leading NYC-based venture capitalists and enabling them to contribute to this ecosystem through a unique mentorship and development program.
InSITE provides:
- Fellows with entrepreneurial and venture capital training, experience and networking opportunities that help them pursue careers in venture investing and entrepreneurship;
- Early stage entrepreneurs with intensive advisory services focused on refining and presenting their business plans and with introductions to a network of venture capitalists from whom they can raise capital and receive input on how to make their business venture fundable;
- Venture capitalists with access to highly screened entrepreneurs with well developed business plans and highly screened graduate students who are eager to get entrenched in the venture business.
History
InSITE was founded in 1999 by Alex Cohen, Columbia JD and Kevin Keller, NYU JD. Paul Tumpowsky, Columbia MBA and member of the founding class, has been the Chairman of the Board since 2000. Over the years, InSITE has helped accelerate technology start-ups through their early-stage development transitioning them from their seed stage into being venture-funded companies. Since Fall of 2000, InSITE’s companies have raised a total of more than $215 million of disclosed funding and have enjoyed at least 6 successful exits.
