Geetika came to Stern to combine her entrepreneurial bent to the development sector and spent this past summer as a Summer Portfolio Associate for the Acumen Fund India office. She has a Bachelors in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Previously, Kesha founded a consulting firm that combined artistic freedom with corporate structure and financial feasibility to develop sound business strategies. The firm consulted several fashion and beauty related companies, and raised seed capital for three start-up ventures that remain in business. Prior to entrepreneurship, she worked as a Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst for three years at Merrill Lynch. Kesha mentors underprivileged youth and volunteers with Sustainable South Bronx, a non-profit organization that develops and executes environmental justice solutions through innovative, economically sustainable projects informed by community needs.

Vinay spent his fall semester studying abroad at the National University of Singapore. During his time at NYU, Vinay has worked for Guthrie & Associates, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and the Environmental Defense Fund. Before coming to NYU, Vinay worked in Providence, RI, for Foresight Science & Technology, where he helped early stage companies positions their technologies in the marketplace. At Foresight, Vinay focused on providing clients a holistic assessment of multiple areas of commercialization — including competition, market dynamics and size, intellectual property, distribution and placement, promotion, and revenue generation. He also started a non-profit focused on providing practical financial education to teenagers in inner city communities that aimed to promote better personal fiscal responsibility. Vinay has also been an intern for the Clinton Global Initiative’s Energy and Climate Working Group, is an active member of the JD/MBA Association at NYU, and one of the founding editors of ThinkChange India — a blog focused on social entrepreneurship and innovation in India. He has a B.A. in International Relations from Brown University.

In between her first and second years of school, Jennifer worked as a Summer Associate for Agora Partnerships Nicaragua, a social investment fund and nonprofit that supports small and medium enterprises in Central America. Prior to business school, Jennifer was the deputy director of City Futures, the nonprofit parent of City Limits magazine and website and the think tank Center for an Urban Future, where she oversaw the development, administration, publishing and marketing operations. Prior to her work at City Futures, she was the communications director for Art in General, a nonprofit cultural organization in Lower Manhattan, where she headed all publicity and marketing efforts and edited and produced numerous exhibition catalogs. In addition to her nonprofit career, Jennifer has run her own boutique jewelry design business for the past three years. Before coming to New York, Jennifer was a researcher and writer for Let’s Go travel guides in India, Mexico and Italy. She graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in History and Women’s Studies.

Justin is currently an MBA student at Columbia Business School. During his studies, he has been working with the cleantech team at Investor Growth Capital, a growth-stage venture capital firm. Prior to business school, he was an Associate with Oliver Wyman’s General Management Consulting Group where he advised clients in the energy, health care and private equity industries. Justin’s work with clients included developing business strategies, working to improve operations and assisting in due diligence efforts. Jeff is a 2010 MBA candidate at Columbia Business School. During the spring and summer of his first year, Jeff worked at DFJ Gotham, an IT-focused Venture Capital firm. Prior to Columbia Business School, Jeff started an import and distribution business, Jing, Inc., where he was responsible for establishing a distribution network, managing all sales and marketing efforts, and coordinating trade shows and conferences. Jeff also worked in Risk Management at Banc of America Securities. Jeff holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Jane spent her last summer at Mayer Brown LLP focusing on corporate legal work. Prior to law school, she worked at the Corporate Executive Board (CEB), a best business practices research firm. At CEB, Jane diagnosed emerging legal issues and advised senior officers of corporate legal departments. Previously, she worked as a legal assistant with the international trade group of a Washington DC firm. Jane graduated from Yale University with a BA in Political Science.

Shawn is currently pursuing a MBA at the NYU Stern School of Business. Over the summer, Shawn worked in strategic planning for JP Morgan in their Central Bank and Sovereign Wealth Fund group. Prior to graduate school, Shawn spent five years as a product manager at OPNET Technologies in Washington DC. He was responsible for the product management and marketing of a $30MM/year network management software portfolio. During his tenure, Shawn orchestrated a number of successful product launches, securing funding from Fortune 500 technology firms such as Intel and Motorola. During his time in Washington DC, he was also the Director of Alumni Relations for Streetwise Partners, a non-profit professional mentoring organization. Previously, Shawn worked as an engineer at Cualinet SL, a software startup in Spain. Shawn holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from McGill University.

At Nissan, he was responsible for commercial vehicle performance target setting & achievement, research & implementation of customer usage requirements and competitor vehicle benchmarking. He also maintains a strong interest in motorsports as a professional racecar driver, having competed in several top North American racing series. Joseph holds a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Ricky worked previously at Google, where he ran the company’s online series of talks and lectures, Authors@Google, and managed projects related to advertiser retention on the AdWords product. He also co-founded a program to provide free online advertising and education in online marketing to businesses in the developing world. Before coming to Google, Ricky worked for McSweeney’s, an independent publisher of books, literary journals, and magazines. Ricky’s writing has appeared in various publications, and he is currently working on a novel. He received a BA in American Literature from UC Berkeley.

Rich Powell

Rich is a 2010 alum of NYU School of Law. He joined InSITE in Spring 2008, and served as VP Teams from 2008-2009 and President from 2009-2010. He will be joining McKinsey & Co as an associate in Washington in January 2011. During law school, he interned during his first summer with the legal department at GE Capital and his second in summer associate positions at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in Washington and McKinsey & Co in New York. Before law school, Rich spent a year working with Inuit Circumpolar Council in Ottawa on the human rights impacts of climate change. He then managed the Circumpolar Conservation Union in Washington, an NGO dedicated to Arctic ecological and cultural integrity. He graduated from Harvard College in 2005, where he concentrated in Environmental Science and Public Policy. He is an FAA-certified hot air balloon pilot.

Prior to law school, Sam spent five years in Prague working in real estate development. He worked on the acquisition and development of over 3,000 apartments and over 200,000 sq. ft. of non-residential development capacity. He managed the development of two residential projects, of 230 and 108 units, on a day-to-day basis from start to finish. He focused generally on legal, financial and tax issues in the business. Before going to Prague, Sam earned his bachelor degree in mathematics from Brown University.

Robert is a 2010 MBA candidate at Columbia Business School, where he is concentrating on media management and entrepreneurship. He is currently interning with NBC where he is an internal consultant in sales/marketing. Prior to business school, Robert was a consultant for JSA Partners, Inc., where he specialized in private equity transactions in the aerospace and defense industry. Before joining JSA, Robert served for six years as an airborne ranger with the 82nd Airborne Division where he attained the rank of Captain. Graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in comparative politics and computer science, Robert also earned certificates in documentary filmmaking and film production from Duke and New York Universities respectively. He is deeply interested in media convergence, digital distribution, and content creation and is the student member president of both the Producer’s Guild of America and their New Media Council.

Roy recently worked in venture capital at Greycroft Partners in New York. Before business school, he was at NBC Universal. There he led NBC’s Product Management team for the Local Digital group. He was also part of the Hulu.com launch team, where he focused on defining the advertising experience for the new joint venture. Before NBC, Roy worked in Product Management for some of IAC/Interactive’s online portal properties. He began his professional career as part of the team at Microsoft defining the feature set for Excel 2007. Roy has a BS in Computer Science from Stanford University with a minor in Management Science and Engineering.

While at Bear Stearns, Matt was a trader on the commercial mortgage backed securities desk where he worked as a Vice President and then an Associate Director. Before joining the trading desk, Matt was an analyst in the Mortgage Finance group specializing in residential mortgage securitization. While attending college, he co-founded HungryTime.com, a web based start-up marketing restaurants to the local community. Matt graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Industrial Labor Relations.

Jason previously engaged in vascular surgery research at Massachusetts General Hospital, where his project on spinal cord ischemia secondary to central aortic surgery was accepted as the plenary session presentation at the 2007 National Meeting of Society of Vascular Surgery. Jason has also worked in various software development roles at Oracle (on Oracle Enterprise Manager), Pegasystems (on business process managment software), and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (on data viewing and analysis suites). While in medical school, Jason founded Summa cum Laude, a New York based not-for-profit that raises money for biomedical research and medical mission work. Jason graduated Brown University with a Bachelor of Science, Magna cum Laude, with Honors in computer science. He plans to pursue a career as an orthopaedic surgeon and an independent consultant in new health care ventures and biomedical device development.
