Abe has extensive startup experience both in New York and Silicon Valley. Prior to business school, he was the VP of Marketing for iSoccer.org, an online coaching platform for youth soccer players and coaches. Earlier in his career, Abe managed sales and marketing for Affinity Circles, a private label social networking and online recruiting platform and has consulted for a number of other startups including Palantir Technologies, The Rubicon Project, HireLabs, and BanyanLink. He serves on the Advisory Board of America SCORES New York, is a co-organizer of the NYC Turing Fellow Program, was a summer associate at Greycroft Partners and is currently interning at Canaan Partners. Abe majored in Political Science at Stanford University, where he also captained the varsity soccer team for three years.

Ted spent last summer interning for Bedrocket, an digital video infrastructure company backed by Ken Lerer and Jim Pallotta, as well as in Investor Growth Capital’s technology practice, focusing on growth equity investments in web and enterprise infrastructure and services. During the school year, he interned with AOL Ventures in New York.
Before starting at Columbia, Ted was a private equity Associate at Oak Hill Capital Partners in Menlo Park, CA, focusing on the Media and Technology industries. His investments included companies in both the traditional and digital media sectors, as well as in telecom infrastructure assets. Prior to Oak Hill, Ted was an investment banker at Deutsche Bank, advising Financial Technology companies and Alternative Asset Managers. Ted began his professional career at Deloitte & Touche as part of the Analytic and Forensic Technology division. Ted graduated from Duke University with a degree in Information Science and a certificate in Film/ Video and Digital Media studies.

This summer Brian is a summer associate at Aol Ventures. Prior to Stern, Brian worked at JH Whitney Capital Partners, a mid market private equity firm. While at JH Whitney, Brian supported existing portfolio companies by executing high priority strategic and operational initiatives and he also evaluated new deals across a variety of industries. Prior to private equity, he worked as a consultant for three years with Oliver Wyman’s General Management Consulting Group. Brian holds a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University.

Currently, Victoria serves as the VP of Operations at InSITE. Previously, Victoria served as the AVP of Sourcing. During her time at InSITE, she worked extensively with Brainscape, a mobile learning platform. She also interned in business development with NomadTV, a startup working in the digital television space. During the summer, Victoria worked as a venture capital associate with NYCSeed. Before starting at Columbia, Victoria co-founded a startup, UNI Technologies, focused on web and software development for local government entities. Prior to this, Victoria worked at H.I.G. Capital, a private equity firm with $8.5 billion of capital under management, in its leveraged buyout group. Before joining H.I.G. Capital, Victoria was an investment banking analyst at Citi, where she advised companies in the utilities and renewable energy sector on mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, and debt & equity financings. Victoria graduated magna cum laude with a BS from Georgetown University, where she majored in Finance and International Business and minored in Economics.

Prior to attending Columbia, Matt worked as a systems engineer at Lockheed Martin and InterDigital Communications, where he led a technical team of fifteen engineers in developing the battery savings capability of a new product. More recently, he worked on patent generation and evaluation in InterDigital’s cell phone R&D division. At Columbia, Matt is focusing on entrepreneurship and venture capital in the clean technology sector. Matt graduated from Lehigh University with a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering.

Alessandro is a JD/MBA candidate at Columbia Law School and Columbia Business School. Prior to Columbia, Alessandro was a management consultant at Oliver Wyman, where he advised clients in the media, transportation and private equity industries. Alessandro also spent five months in Chile with Endeavor, a non-profit dedicated to supporting high-impact entrepreneurs in emerging markets, where he advised a digital media company on its growth strategy. Alessandro graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in History and Economics.

Nistha was working as a MBA summer intern at Fundspire Inc when an amazing opportunity from Yipit made her take leave of absence from Stern’s MBA program. At Stern, she organized Stern’s first and highly successful entrepreneurship conference in Spring 2011. She is currently taking break from MBA and working full time at Yipit. Prior to Stern, Nistha was Senior Developer in Equities Technology at Citi. She has an elaborate experience in technology applications and has received MS in Computer Science from University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. She dreams of starting her own venture some day.

Joseph joined InSITE in Fall 2010. Prior to Columbia Business School, Joseph worked for three years at Jefferies & Co. in the Fund Placement Division, evaluating and advising private equity and venture capital clients. He was also responsible for capital raising for the group’s funds, holding principle coverage of institutional investors in New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C. Prior to Jefferies, Joseph was an analyst at JPMorgan Private Bank. Joseph has a B.S/B.A from Georgetown University, with a double major in Finance and New and Small Business Management.

Prior to joining the NYU Stern MBA program, Steven worked for six years as a health care consultant at The Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC, the nation’s largest membership-based health care consulting firm. During his time there, Steven assisted in developing many of the firm’s forecasting models and also led two national meetings: The Future of Orthopedics and The Future of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Following his tenure at The Advisory Board, Steven co-founded a web business in the local food industry, which he is currently pursuing. This summer, Steven is interning with the New York Angels, an angel investment group focused on Internet startups. In his most recent InSITE project, Steven consulted with Holstee, a clothing and product company that manufactures and curates sustainably-made and eco-friendly goods.
Steven holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Northwestern University.

Prior to attending Columbia Business School, Rebecca worked as a research analyst at NewSeed Advisors, a start-up that provides advisory services in the sustainable agriculture sector. At NewSeed, Rebecca worked with a wide range of clients, helping them work toward their financial goals. Working on a small team, Rebecca was directly involved in producing Agriculture 2.0, a semi-annual conference that highlights the sustainable agriculture industry by bringing together experts, entrepreneurs and venture capital working in the space. Rebecca received a B.A. in Art History from Williams College.
Ellen Hukkelhoven / VP of Science Initiatives

Ellen is a PhD candidate at the Gerstner Sloan-Kettering School of Biomedical Sciences, a school highly committed to translational medicine. Her research focuses on cell cycle regulation in gliomas (brain tumors). She is particularly interested in the intersection of science and business. Prior to graduate school, Ellen was the Business Manager of the 134 year-old daily campus newspaper, The Daily Princetonian. There she started an in-house circulation department, built out a sales team and achieved record profits. Ellen has also been an intern at Novartis Pharmaceuticals for several summers, working in both Regulatory Affairs and the research labs. She studied Molecular Biology and Finance at Princeton University, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Prior to CBS, Shirley was a Senior Analyst in Digitas’ Strategy & Analysis group, where she advised American Express and IBM on their digital marketing and commerce strategies. She has also worked with numerous digital entrepreneurs on their capabilities, business models, and marketing strategies. Prior to Digitas, she worked at Grey, as a Media Planner. Shirley has a BS in Finance and Marketing from NYU Stern with a minor in Journalism and Mass Communications.

Prior to attending NYU, he spent 4 years as a Design Engineer at Honda R&D Americas, Inc where he was responsible for leading the development of vehicle components from concept ideation through mass production. At Honda he gained extensive experience in operations, product development and project management while negotiating across functional groups to successfully implement his designs. He also has experience working for Toyota where he spent a summer learning and implementing the operational effectiveness techniques of Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) and the Toyota Production System (TPS). Alex holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in East Asian Studies from Bucknell University.
