Rich joined InSITE in Spring 2008. During law school, he interned during his first summer with the legal department at GE Capital and his second with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in Washington and McKinsey & Company in New York. Before law school, Rich spent a year working with Inuit Circumpolar Council in Ottawa on the human rights impacts of climate change. He then managed the Circumpolar Conservation Union in Washington, an NGO dedicated to Arctic ecological and cultural integrity. Rich hopes to pursue a career in cleantech, with a focus on energy. He graduated from Harvard College in 2005, where he concentrated in Environmental Science and Public Policy.

Christian is a second-year MBA student at Columbia Business School. He spent his last five years at Google, where he most recently worked on the content partnerships team, identifying and establishing strategic relationships with publishing and media firms worldwide. Before joining the partnerships team, Christian helped create the operations team that launched Gmail in 2004 and also worked on Google Adwords. When not in class, you can often find him at his internship in the Corporate Strategy and Development group at NBC Universal, or running along the west side of Manhattan with his dog Charley. Christian holds a B.S. from Fordham University in New York City.

Katherine Chung received her BA in Economics from the University of Chicago. Prior to NYU, she was a management consultant at Archstone Consulting. She provided strategic advice, operations network analysis, and strategic sourcing to companies in industries such as consumer product goods, quick-service restaurant, heavy equipment manufacturing, and industrial distribution. This past summer, she interned at Hughes, Hubbard & Reed where she focused on corporate transactions.

Tim returned to academia after a significant stint in the professional world. He received his undergraduate degree from Williams College in 1989, after which he moved to Paris and established a catering business, which he operated for five years. He returned to New York and began a career in the entertainment industry, as a songwriter, performer, producer, and owner of an independent record label. He spent eight years in the legal and business affairs department of Peermusic, a worldwide music publishing company, eventually specializing in copyright litigation and overseeing large music-catalogue acquisitions. At Columbia he is focusing on intellectual property law and policy, and spent the past summer at the Kernochan Center for Law, Media and the Arts, a university-sponsored think-tank focusing on copyright and intellectual property issues.

During the spring and summer of his first year at Columbia, Jeff worked at DFJ Gotham, an IT-focused Venture Capital firm. Prior to Columbia Business School, Jeff started an import and distribution business, Jing, Inc., where he was responsible for establishing a distribution network, managing all sales and marketing efforts, and coordinating trade shows and conferences. Jeff also worked in Risk Management at Banc of America Securities. Jeff holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Over the summer, Shawn worked in strategic planning for JP Morgan in their Central Bank and Sovereign Wealth Fund group. Prior to graduate school, Shawn spent five years as a product manager at OPNET Technologies in Washington DC. He was responsible for the product management and marketing of a $30MM/year network management software portfolio. During his tenure, Shawn orchestrated a number of successful product launches, securing funding from Fortune 500 technology firms such as Intel and Motorola. During his time in Washington DC, he was also the Director of Alumni Relations for Streetwise Partners, a non-profit professional mentoring organization. Previously, Shawn worked as an engineer at Cualinet SL, a software startup in Spain. Shawn holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from McGill University.

This summer, Ben interned with the legal department at NHL Enterprises. Prior to law school, he spent two years working in the legal department at MLB Advanced Media, the Internet arm of Major League Baseball. As the Legal Coordinator at MLB.com, Ben was responsible for overseeing the company’s extensive online rights enforcement efforts. He also served on an industry-wide coalition aimed at fighting online video piracy. Ben is also an editor of two popular blogs: River Ave. Blues is the leading independent Yankee blog, and Second Ave. Sagas explores the world of the New York City subways. Ben graduated from Swarthmore College with a BA in History and Political Science.

At Rob is concentrating in media management and entrepreneurship. Currently, he is interning with NBC Universal as an internal consultant for their sales / marketing organization. Prior to business school, Robert was a consultant for JSA Partners, Inc., where he specialized in private equity transactions. Before joining JSA, Robert served for six years as an airborne ranger with the 82nd Airborne Division attaining the rank of Captain. Graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in comparative politics and computer science, Robert also earned certificates in Documentary Filmmaking and Film/TV production from Duke and New York Universities respectively. He is deeply interested in media convergence, digital distribution, and content creation and is the student member president of both the Producer’s Guild of America and their New Media Council.

Zach joined InSITE in Spring 2008. During law school, he interned during his first summer with Office of the Vice President and General Counsel at Yale University and his second in a summer associate positions at a law firm in New York. Before law school, Zach spent two years as an Associate in the Los Angeles office of the Boston Consulting Group, where he focused on the travel and tourism, education, and consumer goods industries. He graduated from Yale University in 2005, where he majored in History.

This past summer, Sean worked with the Environmental Defense Fund’s Innovation Exchange Program, studying how business executives at large American corporations network to find sustainable business solutions. As an undergraduate Sean majored in interdisciplinary studies, focusing on team taught courses with students and professors from multiple academic disciplines. He is currently a member of the ABA Committee on Clean Technology and Climate Change and volunteers with the Clean Tech Open. He hopes to work with clean technology start-up companies after law school. Sean graduated from the University of Iowa with high distinction.

Prior to CBS, Shirley was a Senior Analyst in Digitas’ Strategy & Analysis group, where she advised American Express and IBM on their digital marketing and commerce strategies. She has also worked with numerous digital entrepreneurs on their capabilities, business models, and marketing strategies. Prior to Digitas, she worked at Grey, as a Media Planner. Shirley has a BS in Finance and Marketing from NYU Stern with a minor in Journalism and Mass Communications.
